MELKHOUT Guestfarm & Camping

Wake up to the tranquil waters of the Breede River and the soft sounds of a waking dairy farm while camping on Melkhout Guest Farm. Nestled between the tall Eucalyptus trees on the riverbank and the Langeberg mountains, the raised wooden decks with private bathroom and kitchen sink offer guests privacy while enjoying a prime view of the Breede River. Each deck consists of a large roofed area under which chairs or tables can be placed, or even pitch a tent. Additionally, each site includes a private bathroom with a sink, toilet and shower and a wash-up area for kitchen use. A fire pit is also available at each site, which can be used for having a traditional South African braai or simply enjoying the evening around the fire.

There is also a self-catering guest house available on the property. The house sleeps 8 people, with a bedroom consisting of one double bed and three single beds, as well as a lounge area with three additional single beds. The house has a large dining and kitchen area, a lounge, a bathroom, and a bedroom. A beautiful wooden deck with a large braai area and seating give guests the ability to enjoy company with a view of the river and the farm. The house also has an indoor braai area and fully equipped kitchen for indoor dining. The lawns in front of the cottage stretches into the river and swimming, fishing, rowing or simply lounging in the shade of the trees, is a perfect break away from everyday life.

The lovely Jersey herd on the farm supplies milk to the family-owned cheese factory, Mooivallei Suiwel, in Bonnievale.
